Funds for Vaccines for the Animals at the Noah’s Ark Natural Animal Sanctuary

Anyone walking into the Noah’s Ark Natural Animal Sanctuary knows instantly the animals are happy. You can see their wagging tails. You can hear their happy barks. You can literally see the happy smiles. You can see they are fed, watered, sheltered and happy. They are free from diseases and a life of sickness, cold and misery off the streets.

An enormous amount of love and care is given to ensure that the animals are happy and healthy. Apart from food and water, like any pet kept in your home, the animals in Noah’s Ark receive an adequate amount of medical care. They are given regular vaccinations and immunisations against diseases like heartworm, ringworm, tick fever etc.

When the animals come into the Sanctuary, many are unwell. They are sick and have never received medical care in their lives. Many are also injured. For example, the 130 animals we saved from the floods two years ago all had canine distemper. It is a fatal disease that is airborne. The animals had to be vaccinated, quarantined and the animals in the other enclosures have to be relocated to ensure that the disease is contained. Many of the animals discarded have cancer and infections.

Prices have risen and we need funds for vaccines. The funds collected will go directly towards buying vaccines for the animals. If you are sending a cheque, please write vaccines at the back of the cheque or sms u to let us know.

It takes $30 to sponsor vaccines for one animal for one year.

Please help us. We thank you on behalf of the animals.

Please do continue to give us your support!

Pets' Station Food Drive/Roadshow 17-23 May 2010

Dear everyone,

We would like to highlight an event that Noahs Ark has been invited to participate in. Pets Station has arranged for us to be part of their Atrium Sales at Causeway Point Shopping Centre from 17 to 23 May 2010. Details as follows:

This roadshow will be on for 7 days. However, from 17-21 May (Monday to Friday), only the Food Donation Drive will be conducted. This is an added bonus from the food donation drive we had previously in the months of March and April. Please enquire with the Pets Station personnel on hand.

More details can be found on a previous post: http://noahsarkcares.blogspot.com/2010/03/food-donation-drive-march-2010-only.html. With each bag of food purchased from the Drive to be donated to Noah's Ark, Pets' Station will contribute the SAME item. This will end on the 23rd of May, so please help feed our 1000 mouths in our sanctuary by donating as much as you can!

Next, on the 22nd & 23rd of May (Saturday and Sunday), volunteers will be present to sell Noah's Ark merchandise aside from promoting the food donation drive.

Time: 10am to 10pm daily

Location: Level 1, Area B2+B3 (17m x 5m)

Don't forget to make a trip down if you are available. You can help Noah's Ark by picking up a folder to store your items, some post-its or a notepad or two. Every little bit counts. Regardless you can always drop by to say hi! Thank you for reading this and have a great week ahead!

SMU Project Paint @ NANAS

On July 25th 2009, SMU PAW went down to Noah’s Ark Natural Animal Sanctuary in Johor. This was our third trip but this time, we were armed with paint brushes, newspapers and paints; all ready to give Noah’s Ark a well-deserved new coat of paint.

For the uninformed, Noah’s Ark Natural Animal Sanctuary is an animal shelter based in Pekan Nanas, Johor that is home to a thousand over animals; dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, horses and even monkeys – most of them abandoned by their previous owners. Noah’s Ark does not euthanize the animals but lets them live out the rest of their lives in happiness and eventually, pass on with dignity.

Watching you just in case you change your mind

Hmm, are you really going to paint my home?

With so many lively animals at Noah’s Ark, it’s no wonder they needed a new coat of paint! We started the day early, leaving for Johor at 9am and reaching just in time for a short introduction of the sanctuary and its history by Noah’s Ark volunteers. We were split into three main groups in charge of three different areas – the main house, the new rabbit sanctuary and the horse stables.

Makeover at the horses stables

Most of us had never painted before but we all learnt on the job. Knowing that we were doing this for the animals made us work even harder. But what made the trip just so much fun? The energetic dogs that kept running around us while we were busy re-coating the walls!

SMU students helping to give our walls a makeover:

Lynda, VP of Noah's Ark, helping the students to paint too!

Every now and then, a few mischievous ones would dip their noses in the paint or smear their bodies with wet paint, so at the end of it, not only were the shelters painted, the dogs were too!

Ooops sorry!

Can you paint faster please? I need aircon!!!

Even though it was our third time there, it would always feel like the first. And no matter how many animals are abandoned, no matter how many animals eventually end up in Noah’s Ark because they are unwanted, whenever people visit them, they are always happy and so loving to them; to us.

Indeed, to err is human, to forgive, canine.
